The Mauritius Post Office stamp is one of the top 100 most valuable postage stamps in the world.



Surprisingly, Britain is the only country that does not feature its name on its stamps, simply relying on a portrait of the current monarch to signify its place of origin.





This led to the creation of the first stamp — the Penny Black released on May 6th, 1840.







Some of them are extremely rare stamps while other lots have an interesting provenance.

Issued before 1960: The best way to think of a stamp collector is as an archaeologist of postal history, who consider stamps and covers as valuable artefacts.
